Asset Protection Accounting

Legal problems are often rooted in financial problems. Therefore, in our view, proper accounting is a first line of defense to protecting an organization’s exempt status and its directors and officers from personal liability.

With an organization’s legal viability so inextricably linked to its financial management, Old Colony Law offers accounting services to help organizations prevent legal problems from happening in the first place.

Nonprofit Accounting and Consulting Services

As a Massachusetts Asset Protection firm, we perform accounting and consulting services to augment our legal services and to streamline service to our clients.

Outsourced CFO and Controller

With customized accounting and financial oversight services, we help organizations prepare reports and for financial statement audits; investigate errors and financial misconduct; navigate compliance with accounting standards and government regulation; design internal controls systems and business processes; provide general operations support; reconcile accounts; and ensure GAAP standards are met.

Financial Investigations

We help organizations to detect, investigate and prevent fraudulent conduct. In addition, organizations may be able to benefit from an internal controls analysis to help identify procedural weaknesses and develop processes to deter and detect fraud.

Campaign Finance Compliance and Political Accounting

Many organizations wish to influence elections or legislation. Whether such activity is conducted directly by the organization, through a political action committee, or with other partners, we help ensure that it is conducted in compliance with federal, state and local campaign finance rules.

Asset Protection for Nonprofit Directors and Officers

In addition to safeguarding the assets of their organization, directors and officers should consider their own personal asset protection. At our core, Old Colony Law is an asset protection law firm, and we focus heavily on estate planning, with emphasis on estate tax minimization and protecting children’s inheritances.
